What I meant was that in the past most new concepts were just a level or two below directly observable "things" today most new work is many levels deeper. Example. The first generation integrated circuits were so simple that you could expose the die and see the entire circuit with a microscope. What percentage of engineers involved in new ic design can draw an accurate schematic of a complete cutting edge pentium processor. I agree that it is just multiple identical interconnected building blocks. But still you would die of old age before you got a correct schematic completed. Now how could you do that from scratch with little or no applicable schooling? Terry |
