if you catch them, they may get depressed, and that is not allowed. And since that is not allowed, why should they expect you to notice. My policy was to mark each piece fairly but divide the mark by the number of students turning in identical assignments, so if I saw an asignment three times and it was worth 30% then the three students got 10% each. A lecturer who older and more experienced than I was told me it was more fun to split the marks un-evenly. The students would then get different marks for identical assignments but be unable to complain without admitting that they were cheating. |
