#121573 - What they've done here is to import raptors Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Pigeon control in Denver has been turned over to a number of Peregrine Falcons which were imported from out of state and encouraged to settle among the high-rise buildings in our central business district. They've done a good job, as pigeons are their favorite food.
Now what we need is to reintroduce wolves to the metropolitan area. I think one pack of, say, eight wolves, per household would be about right, don't you? We've had various forms of wildlife gradually reappearing within the long-established boundaries of the city. A decade or more ago, a mountain lion was photographed at the "recreation center" located in a local park. After that photo appeared, it was months before the next episode of "tagging" (spray-painting graffiti on the buildings, etc. at the park). Up to that point, the city had been having to remove graffiti nearly every week. Do you suppose there was a connection? I'd have cheered for the cat that nibbled up a tagger, paint can still in hand!
