#121465 - "Don't re-write running code from scratch". Responding to: ???'s previous message |
If another human-like life form evolves, perhaps it will exhibit more wisdom.
Wisdom needs to be gained by experience. The chances for humans gaining enough wisdom are probably higher than the chance for any other other sentient lifeform evolving and then gaining enough wisdom. For the code analogy - humans are already "running code". Maybe a bit buggy, badly documented and inefficient, but a better starting point than just starting out from scratch. If we tackle the problem one function at a time, we might actually end up with the code we would like to see. |
