#121321 - I'm not sure that's true ... Russia has 'em Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Unless I completely misunderstood the last news report I heard about this, Russia has, at least, the second-largest deposits of oil on the planet, if not the largest. They're just mostly undeveloped.
They also have lots of gas, though I suppose other countries would have plenty of it, too, given enough beans ... Discovering and developing more fossil fuel reserves won't help the fix we're in, however, because it's the carbon emissions from power plants, cars, factories, etc, that are messing up the air we breathe and heating up the planet such that, each year, we need more energy for air-conditioning, pumping irrigation water, etc. We need to force ... er ... I mean induce ... people to be thrifty and sensible. BTW, my 265 HP Nissan Maxima 4-door sedan, traveling at 80 mph, with the air conditioner at full blast, got 69.9 mpg on the way from Denver to Loveland and back, according to the "drive computer." That drive-computer measures miles driven, outside temperature, moving average of speed, and miles per gallon to pretty decent accuracy, albeit a bit high (7%), but quite repeatably. RE RE |
