I think it would help, but I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement. This already exists, but it's not automatic. Either Steve or I can "close thread pending additional response from original poster." In this case, the thread is closed--but the original poster CAN post and his doing so automatically re-opens the thread to everyone. That's something we wouldn't have if we were using phpBB. :) Then, too, there's the notion of a thread that's of interest to you and me, but no longer to the O/P, presumably because he's turned in his homework ... Which is why I think we currently don't have it automatic. If Steve or I see a thread wandering due to lack of OP-participation, we can close it until the OP returns. If, on the other hand, the thread has evolved into an interesting and beneficial discussion the OP is no longer interested in, we just leave it be. Regards, Craig Steiner 8052.com Webmaster |
