I used a bridge rectifier with 5000uFd filter capacitor to rectify 12 VAC. The filtered o/p shows 19 VDC. Can any one tell me why?
12 * root 2 ~ 17 so I doubt you see 19V Also, kindly suggest me on how to choose the value of a filter capacitor in a rectifier circuit to manage ripples. The more the merrier, however why use more than needed, the voltage regulator you (I hope) follow the filter cap with will cut the ripple even more. My rule of thumb is a microfarad per milliamp. This does very much depend on the Vin-Vout differential on your voltage regulator. Erik |
