Doesn't the finger add resistance (load) and capacitance to the oscillator circuit?
If you do that, doesn't it disturb the values applied to that circuit? Wouldn't you expect that to change the time-constant? Would it even oscillate, considering that the intended circuit is probably just the inverting buffer from X1 to X2 and some capacitance? Since you're not likely to ship the board with the finger, isn't it unhelpful to introduce that component? If you're after a temperature reading, maybe a temperature probe is what you should use. Even some of them can affect the oscillator, so it becomes important where you touch the crystal. RE |
