The diagram at the top of page 3 shows you clearly what the device's open-emitter output looks like!

at the output of udn 2892 we are getting -500mA of current what that really means.

Again, look at the Datasheet of the UDN2982.

Note 1 under the Electrical Characteristics table (on page 4) clearly states the meaning of negative current.
