But if the hw already exists, then you don't need to spend time here about how to control the LED matrix - just fix the serial port to interface with a PC. The serial interface does not need to know the drive current to the LEDs, or what decoupling/driver chips that was used. All you need to know is allowed timiing requirements for the multiplexing, in case you modify the code - just to make sure that you don't fry multiplexed diodes by turning on a single scanline for too long (in case the drive current is pulsed at higher currents than the LEDs can handle continuously).
All your questions in this thread implies that you are responsible for a project where you need to drive a LED matrix. Somehow what you say do not add up. |
