Yes - transmitters use negative (and positive)voltage, assuring they are not "marginal". But many of receivers work not only with +3.1, -3.1 V , but alwso with input levels 5V (>3V) and 0V. Yes, this is "marginal" . I dont know is this incorrect or not (in relation to specifications) but this exist in real ("household" ?) PC world. And is correct to be explained to begginers.
