The '275 relies on the "other end" to provide the negative supply voltage. If you use it at both ends, I suspect you're out of luck.
I don't recommend the MAX232. I'd suggest you take a look at MAX232A or MAX3232, and I think those have an "A" version also. The advantage is obvious, in that you only have to provide a 0.1 uF cap. The reduces supply line noise considerably. Keep in mind, too, that you're not communicating over just the two IC's. You've got cable and connectors, too, and those introduce design considerations, too. RE |
