a more powerful 3.3V micro with level shifters
there is an abundance of 3V3 ARM chips with 5V tolerant I/O 5V tolerant sadly is not enough for all problems. It is basically a kludge. Some systems need 5V Span Analog - Done for standards, and noise issues. Some systems need proper MOSFET drive, to 5V, for lower On resistance & lower edge losses. You also need to watch the fine print: many '5V tolerant parts', are ONLY 5V tolerant when Vcc is applied !! (LPC800 is one) That imposes some nasty fish-hooks on your system power sequencing, even under fault conditions. |
