#188837 - 5V can be surprisingly useful Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I've just been working on an automotive design and I'm faced with the choice of an underpowered 5V micro, a more powerful 3.3V micro with level shifters to interfacae with 5V peripherals, or replacing all the peripherals with 3.3V alternatives. A suitable 5V micro would occasionally make my life easier.
The ARM chips regulate the supply down internally to 1.2-1.8V to power the core and presumably have level shifters for the IO, so you would have thought it wouldn't be that hard to do 5V. |
