It may be the same battery chemistry but there's a lot more to it than that - with electrode design, electrolyte design, etc, etc. Also, I think, the control electronics are far more sophisticated. The battery packs for one car I considered, I believe it was the Tesla Roadster, cost $17200. I'd hate to have to replace that every three months! Yes, I think the battery still remains the biggest challenge to practical, everyday electric vehicles! |
