#173435 - Laptops overheating
Responding to: ???'s previous message

My Toshiba P35 has had the same problem, keeping the heatsink clean solved it.

I don't think this is specific to Toshiba at all.

Years ago, I noticed that my laptop (not a Tosh) was running its fan constantly; I checked for viruses; I checked the CPU load - nothing untoward. Then I noticed that the fan was clogged with dust & fluff - clearing that out "cured" it!

Now I regularly (monthly, at least) give the air vents a blast with an aerosol "duster"...

It always amazes me when TV ads etc show people with their laptops placed on soft cushions, duvets, etc - if you do that, it will block the air vents and your laptop will overheat!
