My Toshiba P35 has had the same problem, keeping the heatsink clean solved it.

Hi Jon:

I may have two different problems with my laptop. Battery is not taking full charge so I removed it, to see how laptop works without it. And second problem is maybe the ac adapter can't handle a constant 5A to pc without the battery connected to laptop. I notice when the ac adapter gets very hot the pc turns off. So maybe the design requires the laptop to have battery connected to work correctly? I have used the can air in past, but its a temp fix. I read the link you included nice, link with information.

Best regards,

Ralph Sac
