Do you remember that post in which you said you would "stamp my feet and refuse..." or some such? You even said you'd quit your job rather than to use the 8255, if your boss directed you to do so. If you don't know why a particular part was chosen (The boss might have had 10K units in old stock.)
yes, and I stand by it. you are mixing things up again My post above was about what this thread has been about: older derivatives, not older mismatched technology. I'm not sure of what you mean by "mismatched" technology. The time you said you'd stamp your feet and ultimately resign, it was precisely about having been directed to use 8255. No matching/mismatching there. I'd say that you've steered this particular O/P in the wrong direction. If he has an application that programs his 8748/8749 using 8052 basic, why would you tell him he has to rewrite his 8048 code in 8052?
I wouldn't and I do not recall any threads about REdoing anything where this has come up. He wants to program an 8749 with a board using, and firmware that resides in, an 8752, that being BASIC52, isn't that right? We should let him do what he wants, no matter how we "feel" about it.
sure, if he wants to commit suicide of become a mass murderer, let him I think there's a difference. First of all, if that were the case, how would you propose to stop him? He hasn't asked you or anyone else to participate. Perhaps one should call the police if he were to hurt himself or someone else. His query, however, was about a specific circuit board. Erik
PS programs his 8748/8749 using 8052 basic how would you do that? I don't need to worry about that. He's already got the software. He's already got the object code. He just wants a realized application circuit that can run the code and program the board. Apparently the one about which he asked can do that, though I can't imagine how, as it needs to switch the supervoltage, but apparently he's got that problem solved. He just wants to create a PCB, or buy one. |
