Unfortunately, it makes you vulnerable to all the ne'er-do-wells who rely upon large numbers of Windoze users just leaving everything at default settings...
1) I have bungled my way through a few changes
2) Mr McAfee takes care of most for me

the point is not that I am completely illiterate in this respect (e.g. have installed McAfee) but am not inclined to spend most of my time fiddeling with things outside my expertise.
