Very true!

This applies to DOS Win3.1 just as much as anything else.

eg, I remember, back in the days of DOS, when intalling the network drivers from DEC (remember them?) would stop the mouse working on DEC's own network card!

And you could get just the same kind of slow-down effect in DOS as you installed new stuff, and it would automatically add stuff to your autoexec.bat and/or config.sys...
