#169456 - re: cookies Responding to: ???'s previous message |
Anyone who IS NOT running FireFox with AdBlock Plus and NoScript is a very silly person indeed.
These two very necessary plug-ins neatly solve the cookie problem, and they insure that unless you otherwise allow them, flash/javascript/anything crap simply does not run. So no worries about getting a nasty virus through a malformed bit of Flash. If you're running Internet Explorer as your default browser, you deserve what you get. The fact is that once Bill Gates decides that everyone needs to buy his newest operating system ... Bill Gates has not been involved in Microsoft's operations for several years. your old versions of Windows will start to slow down. While I haven't employed scientific methodology to demonstrate this empirically, I've observed the phenomonon enough times now to have noticed its uncanny correlation with "Windows Automatic Updates." Funny, I have not noticed this. The XP machine on which I am typing this seems to run about the same as it did when it was new. And the apps I run are fairly processor-intensive (FPGA fitter/synthesis/simulation, etc) and slowdowns would be apparent. Methinks you believe in conspiracies. -a |
