#169354 - Disk Fragmentation Responding to: ???'s previous message |
One of the major slowdowns in Windows (and other OSes) is file fragmentation, where files, especially large executables, are split into segments instead of being contiguous. The reason it speeds up on a new disk is the files are restored as contiguous, just like defragmenting.
