#168419 - and the answer is
Responding to: ???'s previous message
The question is "why would using anything but C make anybody a worse engineer"
an engineer that does not use the best available tool is less that fully competent. Which tool is the best should not be determined by the engineers knowledge (if a better tool exist, learn to use it), experience (new, and sometimes better, tools come up quite frequently), preference (if you prefer anything than what is best for the job - learn to use what is best), fear (will I be able to perform using this tool I do not know) or other idiosynchracies (idiosynchracy has no place in engineering).

Now, as to the above, nothing is, of course, absolute. If you are fully experienced in a tool that does perform only 3% less than 'the best' it would be rather silly to invest 6 months in learning to use 'the best'. However I see many cases where personal preferences or animosities (let alone fear) lead to less than 50% of possible productivity and THAT is BAD engineering.

                                 no need            01/01/70 00:00
That would be an ideal fix!            01/01/70 00:00

Yes, those come up in HLL, but ...            01/01/70 00:00
Memory leaks nothing to do with HLL            01/01/70 00:00
Yeah, you can do that ... but it's not recommended            01/01/70 00:00
More way than one to create memory leaks            01/01/70 00:00
that is not applicable to small embedded            01/01/70 00:00
