But then that's no proof of *your* assertion (of C beating the ... ehm ... out of asm). How would you want to prove that by defining a project - supposedly biased in favour of your assertion?

Note the direction of your implication: C => faster than asm. To prove this is not true, it is enough to find one case where C is not faster than asm; I don't need to claim that "asm is faster than C" generally. Whatever "faster" means.
