Yes - but an unqualified "AVR" still means the original, 8-bit AVR.

I think the so-called AVR32 is aimed more at the ARM9 - it's not comparable to a Cortex-M3?

I heard that the only resemblance between the AVR32 and the original AVR is in those 3 letters, 'A', 'V', and 'R'...?
