I've been following along here and I think I'm close to guessing how your "mask and match" algorithm works. However, I'm bothered by this:

With 48 bits, I would have thought there would be 2**48 possible addresses. That works out to something like 281,474,976,710,656, which is quite a few more than 430 million. And 430 million isn't even close to an even power of two. Where did you come up with that number, anyway?
