#152995 - Yes, sloppy code ... and not necessarily better Responding to: ???'s previous message |
One of a number of reasons I have for using several OS' is that XP makes a number of my old and very effective applications fail. There is no adequate replacement for the old verison, as the new, current version won't even import the files from the old version, and there are numerous things the new, 5x as costly, version won't do that the old one will.
I used AutoCAD for years before Windows. It worked just fine! The only difference was that one had to learn how to use it first. With the Windows version, (beginning with v12) one didn't have to know how to use it, but it began to lose in effectiveness because there were too many different ways to express the same thing. Consequently, the time involved in doing something began to grow. Today, any fool can run AutoCAD, but it takes much longer to do the same thing. BTW, there's no question that it has been enhanced. Every since XP came out, it has done nothing but get its features in the way. Programs that load in 20 seconds on a 300 MHz CPU with 512MB of RAM under '98SE take 2 minutes on a 2 GHz machine with 2GB of RAM but running XP. Sorts take longer, edits take longer ... Where's the improvement? RE |
