#152343 - Probably not worth the energy Responding to: ???'s previous message |
In general it is not worth the time and energy to try to DiskDoctor a HDD back to health. It is better to invest the time and expense into a backup system so that you do not have to ask the question again.
Note that the advantage of the backup system I described with images of the HDD is that if ever the original drive fails or the bits in the file system structure decide to retire and go live in the south for the winters then you have a method to recover onto a new drive. File and folder oriented backup is great for saving critical data but does not account for down time to replace a drive and re-build the OS install and all of the rest of the file system structure on the drive. Michael Karas PS. Ask your self the important question. Do drives ever fail? At the place I work, where everyone uses company issued notebook computers, it is amazing how often one hears about people who have had their hard drive just trash out!!! Even to the extent that you find out that many people don't like to admit they had a HDD problem but then when you press them you find out that they have had to visit the PC-Repair center recently. |
