How's about the master sent polling all the times?
Master sent the polling slave (N)
then Slave (N+1) until (N+16).......the repeat polling after the N+16 ended.
So, let said at A-B Cable(master TX and slave RX) always had signal polling from Master.

Then
The X-Y(from Slaves to Master)
filled with random slaves respons (at least it had id numbers)
to display by master MCU.

suggest from Master(guru's) to slave(me)
