#138614 - Where do you see the name?
Responding to: ???'s previous message
how to change the NAME of a comport on a Windows PC

Depending on WHERE the name is used. Or more precisely, HOW the routine retrieves the NAME.

As pointed out, the device holds a name in string descriptor. (EEPROM)
Also Windows holds another name from INF file in registry.
More over, Windows generates yet another name (FriendlyName) for the serial port.
