#138612 - Good question Responding to: ???'s previous message |
I opened up two different usb->serial interfaces that both use the Prolific PL2303 chip.
One had a PL2303HX chip with provision for eeprom and no crystal. The had the number scraped off and a 12MHz crystal, again with provision for eeprom. So, Steve, if you're lucky you can add an eeprom to your usb->serial units. Programming the eeprom is the next trick! As to what eeprom chip is required, I'm not sure, but at the office I have a Advantech ADAM4561 unit that has the eeprom fitted and a prolific chip (unfortunately). As an aside, the FTDI and Prolific usb->serial chips seem to be the most popular and are supported under Linux. |
