You can add eeprom to the Prolific devices to gain the functionality you want, however, I'm not sure how you program them as Prolific don't seem to give too much away with how things work. Some of the more 'upmarket' usb->converters have this eeprom installed alongside the Prolific chip. I've had a few problems with the Prolific drivers - they don't seem to work the way you would hope all the time whereas the FTDI stuff does what you want all the time. |
