#131854 - It depends what's used for comparison. Responding to: ???'s previous message |
My use of Capture is limited to when I have to do it because of client demand. However, the DOS-based OrCAD386+ package, schematic capture, simulator, PCB layout, find library members in an imperceptibly short time, i.e. by the time my finger's off the keyboard, the symbol's on the screen. the command is from the keyboard, namely <G><part name> and it's there as quickly as it can be displayed. It works VERY well with 16 MB of memory and allows the remainder of your 2GB or 4 GB of RAM to function as library storage, though it won't fill even 1 GB.
I'd say that, for me, Capture, which is a darn sight faster than most Windows-based packages, takes between 20 and 100x as long. I've often waited for several minutes for it to tell me it couldn't find the part, despite the fact it was right there in a library. Library management is one of the bigger issues for CAE packages.
