I didn't like this example either, but it worked. I would rather that you had spent the time to comment your example instead of wasting time on this one. It does work, and that's the only reason it was used. The more I look at it the more I don't like it. I probably should have just left it out.
Most of the "why's" in your comments would have to be answered by who ever writes the libraries for Keil. As I mentioned before, it was a stripped down dis-assembly of the compiled Keil example routine. When simulating your example, I noticed that as you type characters, they only get printed in multiples of 4. What happens when your character string is < 4 long? I tried to change this from 4 to 1 LOOP: LCALL GET_RX_NR CJNE A,#4,MAIN_X2 and it worked for eight characters, but spits out a string of garbage after that.
