I wonder how the folks at Comtrol manage to get high data rates on their RocketPort cards and even higher data rates on their RocketPort Plus cards. Well, to achieve data rates of 460kbps or even 920kbps and at the same time not violating EIA/TIA-232E/V.28 standard, they must use transcievers which run at the maximum allowed slew rate of 30V/µsec. Maybe they also use some series termination. At the other end of cable they need a very fast transciever too, of course. Problematically will be to connect one of their products to a device which contains only the much slowlier standard RS-232 transciever. I cannot believe, that more than about 100kbps will work reliably, unless shortest cables are used. Kai |
