should not occur unless your capacitor exceeds the max recomended value in the data sheet . Even then the internal current limiting would probably protect the bonding wires. My worry would be thermal stress on the die. If I were testing for this I would run the tests at maximum vcc in a high ambient environment. if it survives that it will live with sane vcc values and normal temperatures. Terry
