I did try something similar. I typed in NMEA sentences on the hyperterminal screen and displayed chunks of it on the LCD.

I am really sorry,but I'm not quite aware of how to program the PC to send sentences to the 8051. Can you please guide me to an online tutorial which can tell me about it or any other source which could help me with this..I am truly sorry for troubling you with such a trifling problem.
