Andy, as you suggested, I decided to slow things down and first receive data from the hyperterminal into the 8051.I did write codes to receive the data typed into the hyper-terminal via the serial port into the MC and display it on the LCD( at 4800 baud) .
I also, managed to parse the sentences I was typing into the hyper-terminal screen, and display only selected chunks of it on the screen.
Any suggestions as to how I should proceed?
[I further connected my GPS circuit with the 8051, with the simple data receiving code burnt on the chip.But as soon as I replace the serial port connections, with my GPS circuit,I get random data on the LCD.]
