#170975 - I've been saying that for years ... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
... particularly in the context of those notorious "RESET problems" wherein nobody so far has shown any direct connection between RESET and the purported problem. In fact, nobody has even described their problem ... they simply said they had "RESET problems" and subsequently changed their circuit and, because the "problem" they initially claimed they had seemed to have "gone away", they proclaimed victory and went on. Further, nobody has claimed to have provided a proper power supply, providing a crisp rise and fall on Vcc, nor have they even described one case of making a serious attempt at finding the cause of their problem, let alone describing it in rigorous detail.
The fact that they can't make their "problem" recur, since they don't perform rigorous testing, doesn't show anything. After all, if the system doesn't start, one merely pushes the reset button, or cycles the power. Now, I don't deny that RESET problems exist. I am, however, disappointed that, among all the talented engineers who frequent this site, not one has tracked down their "RESET problem" to something related to RESET. Instead, they simply add a component or two and go on their merry way. What does that prove? Having 100k potentially defective units in the field does nothing to prove that they have fixed a "RESET problem." RE |
