As already noted before - the NTC starts with a "high" resistance that limits the inrush current. After a while, the NTC will be warm and the resistance will drop. This resistance drop means that the energy loss in the NTC (and hence in the total circuit) will decrease. This reduction in energy loss is why a NTC is better than just having a 10 ohm resistor as current limiter. |
