But as Steve and Andy mentioned, the diagram shows that it is an NTC, whereas shouldn't that be a PTC ? If there is an in-rush current, the Thermistor will heat up, and this in-turn will increase the resistance of the thermistor, and hence it will limit the in-rush curent. That is what I gathered from Steve's and Andy's post. Please correct me if I am mistaken. I missing on a lot of things here. I need to go deeper into this. Can you please explain why an NTC ? Or, Is the NTC used as "Surge Current Killer" (as the datasheet says)? Never saw or heard of Thermistor being used for SMPS. My head is moving in circles. Similar shock, I got years back when I heard of SuperCaps (on this forum when interacting with Raghunathan) with values in FARADS and NOT MicroFarads. |
