I purchase magic jack A what? From other replies, I take it this is some kind of IP telephony device? I figured $39.95 for year was good deal So how would something like Skype compare? http://www.skype.com - no special hardware required! I wondered how it worked. Google "Voice-over-IP", "VoIP", "IP Telephony", etc,... Sometimes the unit works perfectly other times the voice sounds very choppy or you can not hear at all. Yes, that is typical of IP telephony! In fact, it is typical of many of the digital versions replacing "traditional" analogue media: with analogue, you got a gradual degradation in quality; with digital, the quality is either "good" or rubbish - there is no gentle transition from one to the other. is problem in software or the interface between my telephone that connects to magic jack and the land line phone it connects to. It depends on how good your IP link is. |
