#172798 - Magic Jack it's magic if it works |
Hi to all members:
About 6 months ago I purchase magic jack from radio shack, because I trust radio shack but do not trust informals on tv. I figured $39.95 for year was good deal even if it only worked 50 percent of the time. Since it's has a see through unit clear top case I looked inside and found a chip called magic chip made by samsung. Its a samsung memory chip and is reportly has 1 million instructions. Any way since I was phone man for over 20 years I wondered how it worked. Sometimes the unit works perfectly other times the voice sounds very choppy or you can not hear at all. However the software always loads up to my xp computer. So here's my question is problem in software or the interface between my telephone that connects to magic jack and the land line phone it connects to. Another words an impedance mismatch or level from the data itself because it needs more padding of the signal. I knew from the informals I watched it would never do as advertize, but because I was telephone man for over 20 years I was interested in this new technology. Any memeber have any ideas why sometimes line is perfect and other times voices very choppy and can not hear words being chopped up?I should also mention the unit uses state of the art components, those very small resistors and caps. that you need microscope to see.Thank you for reading this very long Post. Best regards, Ralph Sac P.S. I should have mentioned the magic jack plugs into your usb port on your pc. And needs to be a usb 2.0 version. |
