If both of the above statements are true, over the two diodes and laser will be a voltage drop of 5-4.13=0.87V. Nor the diodes or laser will be on. Laser can not be on.

Also, as Per said, putting diodes in serie does not asure the correct maximum current. At least, you should use a resistor to limit the current.
