#151640 - My mother tongue... Responding to: ???'s previous message |
.. is Hungarian, but was being brought up in a bilingual family (my father is Polish but we spoke Slovak when we were all together). However, since I did not use Hungarian except to talk to my relatives, which I now see very seldom (plus to a few business partners), I switched over to Slovak completely. As it was my mother to whom I talked in Hungarian most of the time, I never learned to curse in this language; I also never learned technical language and the modern expressions the young people are using.
I have no problem to think in either language (and, when talking to somebody for a longer time, also in English - or that malformed version uf it I use), but I never mix them. I also never mix words of one language into the other, except when it has a special meaning and the usage is evident from the context. My dreams are usually without any words (and most often black-and-white)... :-) Jan Waclawek |
