For expressing emotions, I'd go with Spanish 100% of the time. So English is more "close" to myself in certain situations and Spanish in others. What we have learnet the first is the closest in the subconscious mind. My personal experience leads me to believe that that is not necessarily true. When I lived in Mexico and would visit the U.S. only a few times a year, the first few days back in the U.S. I'd have to make a conscious effort to make my spoken word come out in English. I never forgot English and was constantly using written English online, but after a certain time of immersion in a foreign language, the foreign language can definitely get closer to your subconscious mind to the point that you have to consciously force yourself to speak it.
