I, too, have had someone tell me something in English and I respond to them in Spanish until they slap me and tell me I'm babbling nonsense to them.
Some years ago, while working in the US (or was it England?) went to Germany for the company for some time ending up at Christmas. I decided to go to Denmark for Christmas. Ok, we started talking and a few minutes later there was a tap on my shoulder. I turned around an said (?) the person replied "will you guys please shut up, I can't stand it. Every 3rd word you use is English, every 3rd is German and every 3rd is Danish". Neither of us were aware that that was how we spoke to each other.
