And when working in respectable outfits I have rarely had a problem 'borrowing' full size tools for evaluation. Is leasing Compiler legal ? . I will never do that its a matter of ones conscience , where to stop . I guess what you do this is contradictory phenomenon , I wouldnt lease my compiler to someone for evaluation . I am getting suspicious Erik :) . Erik Malund said:
how would you eveluate Keils floating pont performance with the Keil eval? I dont know why these guys are such kind hearted , maybe they throw a hook at people to give competition to Keil(2k - 4k limit) ,Raisonance(4k limit), Bascom(2K) ,Hi-Tech plenty of good products are code limited or some function limited . And IAR sells their compiler at rockets price ? . I recall your discussion regarding IAR AVR compiler here earlier and you were only interested in knowing how strong their Customer support is ? , now you dig other issues , you and me know IAR earns via customer support and the product without that is of no much use. Thats company policy Sure, I can not decide that a company is to provide me with a fully functional tool for evaluation, but I can decide that if they will not, I will not buy their product. Last I were tasked with a toolset comparison only Tasking refused and thus when we bought 8 seats of the tools we chose, they were definitely not Tasking. IAR people knows that their tool can be misused but do you know whats missing with their evaluation version " Evaluation edition : The Evaluation edition is a time-limited evaluation version that you will be able to run for 30 days. Limitations: Will expire 30 days after generation of the evaluation key. MISRA C is not available. The runtime library source code is not available. " Above all no customer support , does that makes usefull even after 30 days . Best/ AP PS: I stop my discussion here rgarding the issue , it is heading somewhere else . |
