I learned of one fellow whose product was counterfeited by an enterprising criminal and injected into the supply chain in the U.S. After a time, the legitimate producer had more RMA's than he'd sold product. His company was ruined, his wife left him, his partner committed suicide, and he's now in prison for murdering the guy who acquired scrap PCB's from the rubbish and made them into the defective counterfeits that generated the RMA's. His lawyers and partner's widow ultimately recovered damages from the U.S. distributor who'd sold the counterfeits.

Personally, I think killing was far too kind for such an individual as would do such a thing.
