Did you mean "UTP" (Unshielded Twisted Pair)? Yes Sounds like the kind of spec for a telephone/telecoms line driver...? No, the line in not connected to telecom or PSTN. You mean http://www.analog.com/UploadedF...SM2142.pdf ? It does include "Telecommunications" in its Applications list.... Please provide link I searched and couldnt find it. -------------------------- Jim Deas said:
That is an excellent chip for audio lines. I have used it often for analog projects.
Not so sure about using it for digital signals. It only has a 15v/us speed and no functions to help recover the data. What speed are you trying to run this link at? I would think something like a sn75176a would be a better match. Other than that, there are several 'modem' chips with built-in line equalizers. I look for around 9600bps . SN75176 cant be usefull for this long distance .Please provide link to the modem chips with built in line equalizers. -------------------------- Kai Klaas said:
Think only about the possible common mode noise...
--------------------------- Transformer looks interesting. Can we send digital data over the transformer interface ?, with Instrumentation Amplifiers at 9600bps?. Transformer can also balance the line what amplification(turn ratio do we require).I could recall some people used Transformers for RS485 in olden days , but not sure. --------------------------- Thanks for the replies.
